Profile
Mr. Okalang Robert is an accomplished, experienced and well-known lawyer who has served the nation in legal practice for more than thirty-three (33) years. He is a two-time Vice-President of the Uganda Law Society, a former Commissioner with the Uganda Communications Commission (8 years), and a former member of the Law Development Centre (LDC) Management Committee, among other appointments and accomplishments.
In March 2018 he was presented with the Uganda Law Society Most Distinguished Service Award—the first ever in the country. He holds an LL.B (Hons) from Makerere University, a Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC), a Postgraduate Certificate in Utility Regulation & Strategy (University of Florida, USA), and a Certificate in Utility Reform & Regulation in Africa (Stellenbosch University, South Africa).
He is enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda (and all courts subordinate thereto) and is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the East African Law Society (EALS) and the Uganda Law Society (ULS).
Robert is one of Uganda’s leading transactional lawyers with a fine grasp of land and securities perfection, intellectual property and company matters (including corporate governance and structuring). He has deep experience in banking and negotiable instruments, revenue law and taxation, environmental law, recoveries, labour law, commercial and construction law, product liability, tort, administrative law and general litigation. He has handled numerous Election Petitions in Uganda with a reputation for success.
